About the book: 2002 / Abstract Gautier Sans Avoir (performed OCR and proofreading): The fifth book by the English author Jim Corbett (1875–1955) in the main part completes the chronicle of the liquidation man-eaters of Kumaon (Northern India), including the Panar leopard, which killed many more people (four hundred) than the famous leopard from Rudraprayag. The hunt for the Talladesh cannibal is impressive, when the seriously ill, half-deaf and half-blind Corbett alone tracked down the half-dead beast in the jungle on a moonlit night. A separate essay, standing apart, tells about the author’s attempts to catch a certain tiger (not a man-eater), “enjoying the patronage” of a local temple.
