About the book: year / "Manor Stories" is one of the most famous in the work of this Danish writer, whose centenary in 1986 was widely covered by both the Scandinavian and world literary communities . The hero of this short story is a young landowner in whom his conscience awakens, and he painfully feels that “there is need and grief in the world” and such a concept as “justice.” Blixen also raises the question of a person’s moral obligations to the past, and although in the story this is associated with the idea of the honor of a noble family, the writer’s thesis: “To renounce the past is the deepest ingratitude” is perceived much more widely. For the hero of the story, the tragic conflict is resolved successfully , but behind it there is a clear picture of an unjust social system.
