About the book: 2019 / Dmitry Ivanovich Ilovaisky (11/23.02.1832–15.02.1920) - one of the most famous Russian historians, a talented publicist and teacher, public activist, active participant in the right-wing monarchist movement, firmly standing on the position of “Orthodoxy-Autocracy-Nationalism”, critic of the Norman state theory, author of numerous textbooks and books on the history of Russia for children and youth. The extensive “History of Russia” (in 5 volumes) was written and published by Ilovaisky from 1876 to 1905. In it, following the historical concept of N. M. Karamzin, he gives a general overview of the history of Russia from ancient times to the reign of Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov . Like Karamzin, Ilovaisky believed that the history of a people is the history of the development of its statehood, which, first of all, is embodied in its kings and leaders. Possessing a good artistic style and the ability to briefly and accurately present facts, Ilovaisky wrote several history textbooks, which were reprinted many times (some 44 and 26 times) and enjoyed deserved popularity among students. First published: Ilovaisky D.I. History of Russia. T. 1. Part 1. Kyiv period. M., 1876.
