MediaDB / ««Orcs" from the East. How the West shapes the image of the East. German script" by Dirk Oschmann: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2024 / What is the “East”? Geographic side of the world? Direction depending on the observer's point of view? Colonial outskirts? Who decides this and why in the mouths of the West the term “East” often functions as a stigma? This book is a daring challenge. Its author, Professor of German Literature at the University of Leipzig Dirk Oschmann, encroached on the holy of holies - the right to interpret history and modernity solely from the point of view of the “winner”. Using the example of West and East Germany, he shatters the benign worldview of the Western intellectual, convinced that the East is good only when it is completely similar to the West. In a vivid polemical manner, the author shows that this conflict affects the entire modern world, based on the global breakdown of society, the inequality of cultures, old grievances and mutual claims, often manifested today in the most unsightly, radical forms. The book, around which heated debate is raging in Germany, will undoubtedly find a response among the Russian reader. The publishing design is preserved in PDF A4 format.
