    About the book: 1937 / In 1937 A.P. Parkau published a collection of poems, Unquenchable Fire, in Shanghai. The collection included five sections: “Unquenchable Fire”, “Cobwebs”, “Rustling Leaves”, “Bitter Paths” and “Alexandrite Stone”. Natalya Reznikova, in her review of the book, noted that “despite these sections, it (the collection - N.P.G.) represents something completely integral.” She also emphasized that the talented poetess is very good at historical miniatures. “Still,” the critic noted, “despite a woman’s rare ability to write not only about the personal... the most exciting and enchanting poems in the entire collection are the lyrical poems, typically feminine, touchingly sincere, like leaves from a diary...” The review also noted the sound writing, color writing (the dominant color is purple), the variety in the choice of poetic meters, and the “singing lightness of the verse.” “Sad reconciliation, condescending tenderness for feelings, for herself, for the material world that she loves so dearly,” this was said about the most characteristic motives of A. Parkau’s work. N.S. Reznikova makes an interesting remark: “A. Parkau does not imitate A. Akhmatova, but her heart leads along the same roads that Akhmatova walked... These are difficult roads, but the poet’s soul is doomed to suffering, and only in it does she draw inspiration…»
