About the book: 1978 / "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass", two world-famous fairy tales by Lewis Carroll, have been read for a long time not only by children, but also by adults. In recent years, they have increasingly attracted the attention of scientists of various specialties: they are studied not only by literary historians, but also by mathematicians and physicists, psychologists and linguists. This edition includes both of Carroll's tales with detailed comments by M. Gardner, a famous American scientist and popularizer of science. Articles by major writers and scientists are also published on various aspects of Carroll's work. Among them are works by G. K. Chesterton, W. Wulf, W. de La Mare, as well as articles by Soviet scientists. This edition also includes a recently discovered episode from Through the Looking Glass, "Bumblebee in a Wig," which Carroll excluded during the proofreading process.
