About the book: 2004 / In the summer of 1877, during the Russian-Turkish War (1877–1878), a small Russian garrison of the Bayazet fortress, deprived of water and food, in conditions of incredible heat and daily assault, he heroically withstood a 23-day siege of thousands of Turkish troops and was liberated by a Russian detachment. The citadel turned out to be unprepared for the siege and only accidental reasons contributed to the salvation of the garrison. During the siege, events took place in the fortress that the Russian authorities kept silent about for many years. In the arena of this small epic there were two heroes, one of whom was, as it were, approved by the authorities, and the other was the true one, whose name was obscured.
