About the book: 1971 / The famous Nogai writer Suyun Kapaev was born in 1927 in the village of Erkin-Yurt. From childhood, S. Kapaev knew well the rich folklore of his native people (before the revolution, the Nogais did not have their own written language). The heroic images of epic tales, the aphorism and wisdom of Nogai proverbs, the philosophical depth of works of folk art had a noticeable influence on the formation of S. Kapaev’s creative style. After graduating from the Stavropol Pedagogical Institute, S. Kapaev worked as a teacher in an aul school, editor of a Nogai regional newspaper, and editor in a book publishing house. The works of S. Kapaev - poems, stories, novels - are published in his native language and translated into Russian. In 1969, the Stavropol Publishing House published his novel for the adult reader “Bekbolat” in Nogai. The book talks about the awakening of the revolutionary consciousness of the Nogai people, about the struggle for the establishment of Soviet power in the Nogai villages. The story “Bekbolat” offered to young readers is the author’s adaptation of the novel of the same name.
