About the book: year / The literary heritage of Georg Ebers includes 17 historical novels and is divided into two unequal parts: five books are devoted to the European Middle Ages, the rest are a kind of " Egyptian cycle". This cycle covers the period from the reign of Ramses II - the middle of the 14th century BC. e. - until the first years of the establishment of Arab rule over Egypt in the middle of the 7th century after the birth of Christ. Ebers’ fundamental scientific works were “Ancient Egypt in History and Scripture,” in which he tried to prove that the scientific data of Egyptology confirms the evidence of the Bible, a guide to Egypt and the biography of his teacher, professor of Egyptology Karl Richard Lepsius. In 1889, Ebers left scientific work for health reasons. The scientist settled permanently in his summer home in the city of Tutzing on the shores of Lake Starnberg. There Ebers was visited by his friends - literary and artistic figures, including the artist Lawrence Alma-Tadema, according to whom many Egyptian paintings were inspired by his communication with Ebers. In 1895, Ebers was included in the Royal Bavarian Academy of Sciences. He was also a member of the Royal Saxon Society of Sciences in Leipzig. Died August 7, 1898.
