About the book: 1967 / A military story about field wives, that is, about the fate of women in war, stated simply, without vulgarity and without moralizing. The airfield service battalion, in which Lieutenant Fedor Kopylov serves, during one of the relocations is located near one of the villages, where this glorious warrior, looking for labor to clear the airfield, meets a young woman, Katerina. By the will of fate and mutual sympathy, Lieutenant Kopylov and Katerina, after personal dramatic events, form a kind of family. However, Fedor dreams of another beauty - medical instructor Shurochka Chabanets, who periodically marries another heroic pilot. And the young lady has a contemptuous attitude towards the schmucks - the rear guards. These are the passions - collisions, interspersed with the everyday life of the support unit. Written in an accessible manner, with knowledge of the subject - the author, after being wounded, served in the BATO, sincerely and without any contempt / “male chauvinism” towards women who agree to such love without obligations. In general, this is the other side of the war from a direct witness - a participant. A good example of Russian realistic prose of the second half of the twentieth century.
