About the book: 1997 / In the collection of works by A.F. Losev (1893 – 1988) under the general title “Name” includes works of the great Russian philosopher that are mostly unknown to a wide circle of readers. All materials in the book are arranged in three main sections: 1) A.F.’s own works. Losev, 2) translations, 3) conversations with Losev. All materials presented in the book vary in genre: from individual notes, theses, fragments of research to large philosophical, theological and linguistic articles. Among A.F.’s own works Losev, it is necessary to highlight “Name”, “Primordial Essence” and theological theses, which for the first time present to us Losev the theologian, a comprehensive religious thinker. Brilliant translations of medieval theological treatises confirm the seriousness and thoroughness of Losev’s theological research. The problem of the name, along with myth and number, by A.F.’s own admission.
