About the book: 1964 / In 1943-1944. Chakovsky visited the fighting Leningrad more than once - this is how his work on the trilogy about the people of the heroic city “It Was in Leningrad” began. Its first part, “War Correspondent,” was published in 1944. The second book “Lida” was published in 1946. The dilogy was continued by the story “Peaceful Days” (1947). These three works made up a trilogy that marked the development of documentary prose and its genre renewal.
