About the book: 1997 / Dumas' novel "Isaac Laquedem" is based on the medieval legend of the Eternal Jew. It combined Christian ideas about Jews as people deprived of a homeland and doomed to wander; echoes of the Old Testament stories about Cain, sentenced to immortality; legends about the witnesses of the first coming of Christ, whom God destined to live until his second coming; tales of eternal wanderers.
