About the book: 2019 / Operation "Typhoon" was the swan song of the Wehrmacht. Never again - neither before nor after - has the German General Staff assembled such forces to carry out a task: Army Group Center and three tank groups. And in our history this plan was successful. The quick and crushing defeat of three Soviet fronts opened the way for the invaders to Moscow. And only the courage of the fighters and commanders of the newly created Western Front and the iron will of Zhukov deprived the enemy of such an opportunity. Later it would be called the “Russian military miracle.” However, in the history of the encirclement and defeat of the Western Front, there is a moment when Operation Typhoon could have gone according to a different scenario. Probably, the differences would have been insignificant, although important, if several random people had not intervened in its course.
