About the book: 1989 / Konstantin Simonovich Gamsakhurdia - writer, Georgian philologist, author of historical and literary works. Born in the village of Abasha, Sonak district, Kutaisi province. He graduated from the Georgian gymnasium in Kutaisi. He studied at St. Petersburg University, where he studied at the seminary of N. Ya. Marr. Due to disagreements with the teacher, he went to study abroad (Konigsberg, Leipzig, Munich, Berlin). In 1914, due to the outbreak of the First World War, he was arrested in Germany and spent about a year in a concentration camp. He finally returned to Georgia in 1921. One of the founders and leaders of the “Academic Group of Writers”, publisher of a number of magazines. Arrested on March 1, 1926. Seriously ill, taken to Moscow. On June 28, 1926, the OGPU Collegium sentenced him to 10 years in prison (Article 66). He served his sentence in SLON. Released on parole on December 21, 1927 on the basis of a resolution of the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR dated November 23, 1927.
