About the book: 2012 / Pinacoteca Brera is one of the best museums in the world. The Pinacoteca is a collection of paintings, an art gallery, although Brera also houses examples of other types of art. The name "Brera" is ancient, it goes back to the word from late Latin "braida", meaning a field or forest located on the outskirts of the city, which was once this place, now located in the center of Milan. The museum still does not have enough exhibition space, so its staff came up with the idea of holding regular exhibitions called “Never Seen Brera”: paintings are taken out of the storerooms that museum visitors usually do not see. And these are also wonderful works: there are no others in the Pinakothek. And in the courtyard of the palazzo stands one of Canova’s statues, depicting the emperor who was so controversial, but deserved this monument. Today, it houses a magnificent collection of paintings from Northern and Central Italy, which includes such masterpieces as “The Betrothal of Mary” by Raphael Santi, “Supper at Emmaus” "Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, the unique work of Andrea Mantegna's "Dead Christ" due to its artistic design, the subtle and lyrical "Pieta" by Giovanni Bellini and the hallmark of the Pinacoteca - "The Altar of Montefeltro" by Piero della Francesca, which is also called the "Altar of Brera"».
