About the book: year / Novels from the series "Sons of the Great Bear" by Lieselotte Welsskopf-Heinrich are on a par with adventure books about the Indians of North America Fenimore Cooper and Mine Reed. The works of the German writer became classics of youth literature, were republished many times, translated into dozens of languages and filmed. The cycle began with the novel of the same name, which was published in 1951, and its author was awarded a prestigious literary prize. In subsequent years, Welskopf-Heinrich did not stop working on the book and significantly expanded it. The first complete edition was published in three volumes in the early 1960s (later the cycle was also published in six volumes). For her active support of the North American Indians, the Oglala tribal union awarded the writer the honorary title of Lakota-Tashina, Defender of the Lakota. Readers are invited to the second volume of the trilogy “Exiles, or Top and Harry.” The book tells about the new trials that befell Mattotaupa, the leader of the Indian tribe of hunters, and Kharki, who, following his father, left his native camp and shared the bitter fate of an exile with the leader... The novel is presented in a new complete translation by T. Nabatnikova and R. Eyvadis (formerly “The Sons of Ursa Major” was published in Russian in an abbreviated form); the book also includes beautiful illustrations by P. Paramonov.
