The author of the memoirs is a captain of the White Army, biologist, writer and Pushkin scholar, who emigrated as part of the Russian army of General P.N. Wrangel. In his memoirs, Nikolai Alekseevich tells us how during the Civil War he ended up in the hetman’s army and what trials befell him. The book is published in the year of the 125th anniversary of the birth of N.A. Raevsky.
