From the author: The story was written after communicating with a real person, whose story shocked me. I simply could not calmly pass by this story, and conveyed it in general terms approximately as the main character told it to me. Having, of course, given a literary form to a confused oral story, smoothed out the most unsightly moments and logically connected what initially seemed generally incoherent.
