About the book: 2016 / Andrei Pavlovich Shmankevich (1908–1970) was an amazing person. He worked in the navy as a mechanic, boilermaker, sailor, and diver. After an accident under water, he was demobilized, graduated from drama school, and performed at the Central Children's Theater and the Moscow Theater of Satire. During the war he commanded a platoon of marines, and at its end he was the head of a children's magazine. But, most importantly, Andrei Shmankevich was an excellent children's writer. He wrote more than 40 books for children. The collection includes the best stories by A. Shmankevich about boys and girls - funny and sad, kind and unobtrusively moralizing, always with a fascinating adventure plot. The book was illustrated by the wonderful artist Evgeny Migunov.
