About the book: 2006 / At the beginning of 1925, a young 25-year-old engineer Helmut Walter received a patent for a method of operating a gas turbine engine using a closed process. A patent entitled “Implementation of a hermodynamic cycle, for example in a gas turbine, during isothermal compression of combustible mixtures” attracted the attention of the military. At the end of 1925, Walter was transferred to the army weapons center in Berlin, where he was entrusted with the development of air defense rocket systems. However, he does not forget about the idea of a steam-gas turbine for the fleet and brings it to the level of developing working documentation. By the nature of his position as a leading engineer of the state arms department in Berlin, he was directly related to the design bureau of the naval department. The then head of the special direction of mechanical engineering, adviser to the minister Laudan, having familiarized himself with Walter’s materials, showed interest in the project of such a turbine as a ship engine.
