About the book: 2011 / The State Tretyakov Gallery (TtG) is an art museum in Moscow, founded in 1856 by the merchant Pavel Tretyakov and having one of the world's largest collections of Russian fine arts. The exhibition in the main building “Russian painting of the 11th – early 20th centuries” (Lavrushinsky Lane, 10) is part of the All-Russian museum association “State Tretyakov Gallery”, formed in 1986. The date of creation of the Tretyakov Gallery is traditionally considered to be 1856, when the Moscow merchant and industrialist Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov (1832–1898) acquired the first works of modern Russian artists.
