This collection is not a scientific work or a work of art. These are the memories of direct participants in the events - prominent Soviet military leaders and political workers, commanders of formations and units, partisans and underground fighters, articles by researchers and journalists. The book contains materials specially written for this collection, as well as previously published documents of military everyday life and front-line photographs. Military scientific societies at the Ivano-Frankivsk, Uzhgorod and Chernivtsi Houses of Officers provided assistance in collecting materials.
