About the book: year / In the summer of 1963, the remains of a dead sailor were discovered in Neelova Bay on the coast of the Laptev Sea. A metal plaque lay next to him. The inscription on the time-eaten plate indicated that its owner was a non-commissioned officer in the Kriegsmarine, that is, the German naval forces during the Third Reich. Who this sailor was - and, most importantly, how he could have ended up so far to the east is still unknown. In 1968, in the same bay, not far from the village of Tiksi, the waves washed ashore a half-empty barrel of kerosene, marked Kriegsmarine. And seven years later, in 1975, the crew of an Mi-8 helicopter, which made an emergency landing on one of the islands in the Lena River delta, discovered an entire fuel warehouse that belonged to the German Navy. These facts, which became known from a number of newspaper publications of that time, became the subject of several journalistic investigations, which, however, failed. What is hidden behind these sensational findings? A simple coincidence, as often happens, or something more important that we still don’t know about?
