About the book: 2016 / Memoirs of A. V. Eropkin, a Russian publicist and public figure, cover the period from 1905 to 1928. He begins them at the time when he is elected as a deputy from the Ryazan province to the State Duma of the first convocation, and ends in exile, in Belgrade, as an employee of the newspaper Politika. Eropkin became an eyewitness to a turning point in the history of Russia. Duma of the 1st and 3rd convocations, where he was a member of the Octobrist party; the war and its perception within the country; revolution; the situation in Ukraine in 1918–1920, where the author was sent by the Zemsky Insurance Union, and in Crimea during the Red Terror - these are the topics covered in the memoirs. The merits of this work are not limited to historical significance - a lively, rich language, fascinating presentation, the author’s acquaintance with many famous personalities of that era (S. Yu. Witte, V. N. Kokovtsov, P. A. Stolypin, etc.) make the memoirs interesting not only only for specialists, but also for all lovers of Russian history.
