About the book: 1970 / Russian chronicles contain many ancient tales. From summer to summer, that is, from year to year, inquisitive people entered into chronicle books what they themselves saw and what they heard from knowledgeable people. In addition to written evidence, “traditions of deep antiquity” were preserved in people’s memory without records. Memorable old people orally conveyed legends about ancient times to children. And they, also orally, without notes, retold them to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
