About the book: year / "The Sweet Life of Solyonaya Balka" is a real story about the life of a village founded by Ukrainian settlers in Kazakhstan during the "Stolypin reforms of 1907–1910 years." It covers a period of more than a century; from tsarist times, passes through the entire Soviet period and partially captures the current “reformist” time, modern Kazakhstan. The author, in his usual manner of narration, seems to be leafing through a huge, centuries-old Album of the Life of a particular village, highlighting individual portraits and group photographs of various characters, giving all this his own characteristics, emphasizing that he is simply expressing his opinion and does not impose it on anyone. Many moments within rural relations are written by the author, not only with special skill in penetrating images and actions, frank love for a given place and the people living in it, but also show his deep knowledge of the subject in question, that is, specifically about the period – “Sweet” life in the history of this village. The story is not made up; Stories in which the author has been closely involved for many years.
