About the book: 1932 / October 3, 1927, the classic of American literature and publicist Theodore Dreiser received an invitation from the Soviet government to come to Moscow to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Russian Revolution. On the same day, he began writing this historical diary, in which he captured many vivid memories of his trip to the USSR. The recordings, begun in New York, were continued first on board an ocean liner, then while traveling around Europe (in Paris, then in Berlin and Warsaw) and finally in Russia. Dreiser also recorded his conversations with famous politicians and cultural figures of the country - Sergei Eisenstein, Konstantin Stanislavsky, Anastas Mikoyan, Vladimir Mayakovsky and many others. Dreiser's Russian diary became important evidence and one of the significant historical documents of that era. The recognizable original style of presentation of the great author turned travel notes into a unique and fascinating work and portrait of the Soviet Union of the 1920s.
