About the book: year / English writer. Real name: Harry Patterson. He also wrote under the pseudonyms James Graham, Martin Fallon and Hugh Marlowe. Born in Newcastle. Until the age of 12, he lived in Belfast, where he witnessed intense political confrontation, which could not but affect his worldview. Then he moved to Leeds, finished school there and, without receiving any profession, ended up in the army. He served three years in Western Europe in the Royal Guard as a sergeant. After demobilization, he worked as a laborer in a circus, as a conductor, and as a truck driver until he entered college at the age of 27. He graduated from the University of London with degrees in sociology, social psychology and economics. He taught at school and at the same time wrote adventure novels under various pseudonyms and his real name. He became a professional writer in 1975 after the success of the novel Tne Eagle Has Landed, about the attempt of German paratroopers to kidnap Winston Churchill in 1943. This novel, according to many fans of the writer, is still his best work. From that moment on, he writes only as Jack Higgins, republishing some old novels under this pseudonym. Currently lives with his wife on the island. Jersey (Channel Islands), is a professor at the University of Manchester, chairman of the Jersey Film Society, and a member of the Royal Society of Arts. To date, Higgins has written about 70 books, mostly detective stories, spy thrillers, adventure and military adventure novels. Some of them have been filmed. The heroes of many of his works are Irish and, in general, the writer very often uses Northern Irish specifics in his plots. His most popular heroes are Irish terrorists Liam Devlin (a series of 4 novels) and Sean Dillon (a series of 9 novels), voluntarily or forcibly participating in the operations of the British intelligence services.
