MediaDB / «The face of war. Military chronicle 1936–1988" Martha Gellhorn: download fb2, read online
About the book: 2023 / American journalist Martha Gellhorn witnessed the largest military clashes of the 20th century: from the Spanish Civil War to World War II, from the Soviet-Finnish to the Arab-Israeli War, from the American invasion of Vietnam to the conflicts in El Salvador and Nicaragua in the 1980s. Despising the lies of official press releases, Gellhorn went into the thick of things everywhere, talking with soldiers, wounded and refugees and writing about what war looks like for ordinary people caught in its millstones. The author's collection of reports, "The Face of War", covering almost fifty years of bloodshed and unsuccessful attempts to establish a lasting peace, is a sharp, slap-in-the-face statement on the state of humanity, not at all outdated over the next half century. The publishing design has been preserved in PDF A4 format.
