A distant crack is heard. It's getting stronger. Soon the black dot on the horizon turns into an icebreaker. The icebreaker does not cut the ice, but crushes it with its weight, throwing itself onto it with its stem. The ice doesn't give up. Then the icebreaker reverses, sliding into the already freed water. Accelerates and jumps onto the unruly ice. There is a struggle between David and Goliath. A man with a system. Faith with Hopelessness. It seems that the icebreaker is about to break from inhuman blows. But now, one after another, the liberated ships line up in the wake of the icebreaker, beginning their journey to the “Mainland” to their families, to warmth. I called my book “My Icebreaker” because, for unknown reasons, I had this vital role to play . At first I threw myself on the insensitive ice of the Soviet system. But in the end, he somehow survived and won. Then there was Israel. And here I fought and won. And finally, this book is like a report and completion of my ice epic. Initially, I called the book: “My Icebreaker.” It was published in Hebrew under the title “Survival.” When preparing a new edition, I combined both titles: “My Icebreaker, or the Science of Survival».
