About the book: 2020 / The book attempts to comprehend many events of the last century and today through the prism of the Apocalypse. The current events create a feeling of an impending global catastrophe. Neither philosophers, nor historians or other intellectuals are able to give satisfactory answers to the questions that people have: where is humanity heading, does it have a future, is it possible to prevent (or at least delay) the coming catastrophe? The author is confident that comprehensive answers to these and similar questions can be found in the Holy Scriptures (Old and New Testaments) and especially in its last book, called the Revelation of St. John the Theologian, or the Apocalypse. Particular attention is paid to chapters 17 and 18 of Revelation (the theme of the “Whore of Babylon”). The book also examines some literary works (primarily by F. M. Dostoevsky and Vladimir Solovyov) devoted to the theme of the Apocalypse.
