    About the book: year / Boris Ivanovich Ivanov was born in 1928 in Leningrad. Survived the blockade winter of 1941–1942. Graduated from a vocational school. He worked as a turner and drilling foreman in a geological party. After serving in the army, he graduated from the journalism department of Leningrad State University. He worked in district, factory and university newspapers. In 1965 he published a book of short stories, “The Door Remains Open.” In 1968, for authoring a collective letter protesting against the trial of A. Ginzburg and Yu. Galankov, he was expelled from the CPSU and fired from his job. He was a sailor, a boiler room operator, and a watchman. Since 1976, he has been the publisher of samizdat: the magazine “Hours” (80 issues were published until 1990), the satirical magazine “Red Shchedrinets” (1986–1990) and the socio-political “Democracy and We” (1987–1990). Initiator of the creation of the country's first association of unofficial writers - Club-81 (1981–1988). Later, he was the compiler of collections of Leningrad uncensored poetry and prose, the initiator and author of a number of publications dedicated to the history of the Leningrad underground. Winner of the Andrei Bely Prize in the category “Criticism” (1983). In the Soviet years, prose was published in self- and tamizdat, in our time - in the magazines “Zvezda”, “Neva”, “Znamya”. In 2009, the publishing house “NLO” published Works in two volumes. The story “Behind the Walls of the City. Deserter Vedernikov" is part of the cycle "Harvest of Victims", dedicated to the siege of Leningrad.
