About the book: 2021 / Not a single serious work has yet been written about the role of aviation in the Battle of Stalingrad. One gets the impression that everything came down to street fighting, tank attacks and artillery duels. In this book, the battle is shown as if from a bird's eye view, through the eyes of German aces and Soviet pilots who flew on the verge of physical and nervous exhaustion. Particular attention is paid to the famous air bridge to Stalingrad, organized by the Luftwaffe, which had no analogues in history. Hundreds of overloaded planes flew into the “cauldron” through snow and fog, day and night, despite anti-aircraft fire and the attacks of “Stalin’s falcons”, which opposed them, sparing no effort and regardless of huge losses. The author has collected incredible and sometimes shocking details of air battles in the skies of Stalingrad, as well as within a radius of two hundred kilometers around it, systematizing a huge amount of information from German and domestic archives. An objective look at the events will allow the reader to feel all the cruelty and drama of this unprecedented battle. Publishing layout saved in PDF A4 format.
