The heroine of the novel, May Lind, lives on Democratic Island. She is 30 years old, she has no family, friends and a successful career, she has a low opinion of her appearance and talents and behaves “lower than grass, quieter than water.” One fine day, May wakes up, but finds herself not at home in a cozy bed, but in a hospital. In addition, it turns out that she suffers from amnesia, as she does not remember anything about the last 6 months of her life. During this time, her appearance and character have changed dramatically: she is no longer a gray mouse, but an attractive young woman, capable of extraordinary actions. These newly acquired qualities came in handy, because the authorities are seriously accusing her of betraying the Democratic State and of aiding an insidious but elusive terrorist with the strange nickname Prometheus, who calls for cooperation between the islands. For these crimes she faces the dreaded death penalty of the electric chair. But she is no longer the one who, bowing her head, submits to circumstances. In search of truth, the main character will have to solve a number of puzzles based on colorful ancient legends, defeat mythical monsters in an experimental virtual world, find a man whom some consider a great Villain, and others - the great Teacher, to bring together opposing political forces in order to raise an uprising, to reveal a grandiose deception that has been going on for 200 years and to answer the most important question: if life is a theater, and the people in it are actors, then who is the director?
