About the book: 2013 / The struggle of two Soviet leaders - Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky - largely predetermined not only the development of our country, but also the world history of the 20th century century. Some see in this confrontation only a socio-political component, a clash of two grandiose “projects”, while others, on the contrary, reduce everything to the struggle of specific people for power. Trotsky is a bright public person of the “bohemian type”, a brilliant speaker, a lover of external effects, a politician, unable to calculate the results of his actions. And Stalin is outwardly ineffective, secretive, stubborn, for the time being avoiding publicity, calculating his actions many steps ahead, a master of political combinations. What exactly did not share between these two strong and completely different leaders? Why couldn’t even their passion for starting a world fire unite them? And was their confrontation really based only on ambitions and personal grievances??
