About the book: 1960 / FROM THE AUTHORS Almost three quarters of a century have passed since the first Russian art postcards and their collectors appeared. In this brochure, the authors set out to provide brief information about the appearance and distribution of postcards, characterize the various existing types of postcards, and introduce existing methods of their systematization, storage and display. The authors attach great importance to their attempt to highlight the possibilities of using postcards in propaganda and mass agitation work, as a visual teaching aid, as well as the role of postcards in cultivating the artistic taste of the broad working masses. The materials for this brochure were based on the work experience of the section of philocartists (postcard collectors) of the Moscow City Society of Collectors, as well as the own experience of the authors of this brochure. The illustrations in the brochure were selected based on materials from the collection of V.V. Shleev. The authors express their gratitude to the members of the philocartist section of the Moscow City Society of Collectors, with whom they shared their thoughts in the process of creating this brochure, whose comments and advice were valuable assistance in the work on the brochure.
