About the book: 1993 / Fritz Woess (pseudonym) was born in 1920 in Vienna. In 1938, he voluntarily enlisted in the Wehrmacht, was a cadet with the rank of fanen-junker, becoming a lieutenant, and took part in the occupation of France. As a battery commander, he took part in the attack on Leningrad and was wounded in the battles of Tikhvin. Returning from the hospital to the front again, he ended up not only in the heat of Stalingrad, but also in captivity. In 1950, he returned to Vienna, entered the Faculty of Law and received a Doctor of Science degree. Since 1960, Wese has been director of the University of Agriculture in Vienna.
