About the book: 2023 / "Crossroads" is the third novel in the unfinished tetralogy "In the Tiger Mountains" by the famous Far Eastern writer Ivan Ulyanovich Basargin (1930–1976). “All my life I have been preparing to write these novels, all my life I have been mentally creating my future images bit by bit... All this lived in me, was born in me,” the author noted. His third novel was entitled “Crossroads,” reflecting the era of great upheavals at the beginning of the 20th century, a turning point in wars and revolutions. In the novel, the fate of an ordinary person from the people is closely intertwined with the fate of the country; a special place is occupied by the tales of the indigenous peoples of the region (Nanai, Udege, Taz), beliefs, traditions, and omens. But the most significant part of the work is occupied by paintings of the First World War and the Civil War, which gave people a feeling of a terrible crossroads.
