About the book: 2023 / The word “Russophobia”, almost taboo a few years ago, is now on everyone’s lips. And we are not just talking about a term, but about a phenomenon that our country had to face after February 24, 2022. The Western world is literally gripped by a pandemic of hatred towards Russia and everything Russian. You are Russian - that means you are guilty. Meanwhile, the view of Russia through the optics of superiority not just as an Other, but as an Alien, as a huge country inhabited by slavishly submissive and powerless people, ruled by a tyrant dictator striving for world hegemony, has its roots in ancient times. And as a holistic ideology, Russophobia took shape in the 19th century, in the century of the formation of classical ideologies, public opinion and the press. This book is not at all a history of Russophobia, nor a generalizing theoretical work. This is a kind of sketch, a gallery of images of Russia, compiled on the basis of an analysis of the works of European authors, mainly French, who wrote about our country in the 19th century, who visited here or never came here. Were they convinced Russophobes, ordinary opportunists, or simply following fashion trends? Many of the works of these authors have not been translated into Russian, so perhaps the reader will be interested in getting acquainted with the opinion of educated Europeans of the 19th century about our country. Perhaps then the metamorphoses that have occurred with today's Western politicians and ordinary people will not seem so surprising. After all, the same myths and stereotypes of perception still apply. Even in the 21st century, we remain eternal and unchanging Russia for the West. The publishing layout of the book is saved in PDF A4 format.
