About the book: 1976 / This book is a story about the heroes of 1825 who lived until the 1860s, before a new explosion of social struggle, a story about people who showed loyalty to revolutionary ideals, deep patriotism, activity, intransigence. Several biographical essays are dedicated to individual representatives of the Decembrist movement who endured solitary confinement, hard labor, many years of exile and retained the beauty of spirit and purity of thoughts. One of the essays tells about women whose lives were illuminated by sympathy prisoners of Siberia and self-sacrifice for them. The topic of the last essay: the Decembrists and Russian literature. The book is built on a variety of archival materials from personal Decembrist funds. Many of them are published for the first time.
