    About the book: 2014 / Many have at least once heard about the operation to rescue Benito Mussolini, the laurels of which went to “saboteur No. 1” of the Third Reich - Otto Skorzeny. But few people know that at the beginning of 1944, Hitler instructed Skorzeny to take part in the preparation of Operation Rosselsprung (Knight's Move), the main goal of which was the destruction of the leader of the Yugoslav national liberation movement, Marshal Josip Broz Tito. Skorzeny came to the conclusion that “the mission is impossible” and refused to participate. Nevertheless, the war machine of the Third Reich made its “knight’s move.” More than 1,400 well-trained German paratroopers, supported by several Wehrmacht divisions, pursued the partisans for 8 days. The forces of Tito's personal guard were so depleted that there was a real threat to the lives of the leaders of the entire partisan movement in Yugoslavia. And then Russian pilots came to their aid…
