About the book: 1995 / For decades, Soviet Historical science has not addressed the topic of the existence of the Order of St. in Russia. John of Jerusalem, better known as the Order of Malta. The collection includes a number of independent scientific studies commissioned by the Russian State Video Company by authors who are in no way connected with the St. Petersburg Priory of the Order. The authors of the articles set themselves the goal of solving some problems associated with the personality of Emperor Paul I as the Grand Master of the Order, as well as issues that arose in connection with the transfer of the Order's administrative structures to Russia. The articles reflect a new look at the emperor and his activities, cleared of tendentious distortions that arose during his lifetime not without the influence of Catherine II.
