About the book: 1958 / The story "Birobidzhanians on the Amur" tells about a small episode from the working life of newly settled peasants - the harvesting of hay carried out by a group of immigrants on an island cut off by a flood . The story ends with the victory of the enthusiastic mowers: the hay is cut and stacked, the mortal danger that threatened the people cut off on the flooded island has passed; a proven team of communards has formed and strengthened, ready for new battles with the wild taiga. The remaining works included in this collection (with the exception of the last two stories written during the war) also depict the struggle of the Soviet people for the development of the Far East.
