About the book: 1962 / Nikolai Lupsyakov first appeared in print in 1936. Several collections of his stories and short stories have been published in Belarus. Russian readers are already familiar with the writer’s work from the collection of stories “House on Wheels,” published in 1957 by the publishing house “Soviet Writer,” the book “On My Dnieper” (publishing house “Molodaya Gvardiya”, 1961) and other publications. N. Lupsyakov's talent is original; he knows the life of ordinary people well and writes about them with great love. The writer knows how to deeply reveal the appearance of his hero through the seemingly ordinary, everyday, and expressively and vividly show the signs of the new entering our lives. Thus, in the story “Pobirakha” N. Lupsyakov creates an impressive image of a young collective farmer, whose parents in the old days were called pobirakha in the village and who has now become an advanced worker of the collective farm. The writer convincingly tells about the life path of the Belarusian boy Savitsky, who went to the North and became a real miner there (the story “Savitsky”). In a number of stories N. Lupsyakov evilly and sharply ridicules the remnants of the past characteristic of some of our people.
