The king of the country of Akkad, located in the north-west of Mesopotamia, is trying to subjugate Elam, a country to the east of the Persian Gulf, under his influence, and, by pooling resources and forces, conquer Mesopotamia. His plans are opposed by Babylon, Alum Ashur (future Assyria), at that time still a weak trading republic, and part of the nobility of Elam.
