About the book: 1974 / The novel "The Thirteenth Company" is a satirical work. Actions in it take place either in Hitler’s troops, rushing to Moscow, or in detachments of Soviet partisans. The fascist invaders and their henchmen - burgomasters, elders, policemen - are unleashed with weapons of front-line satire. This book was written by former army Komsomol worker Nikolai Egorovich Boranenkov, the author of four novels and a number of collections of humorous stories, one of those recommended to the Union of Writers of the USSR by Mikhail Sholokhov. On the very first day of the war, the thirteenth company of peaceful builders of defensive lines found themselves surrounded on the western border. People are in a difficult situation. No weapons, no ammunition. Their units retreated far to the east... And then Sergeant Major Ivan Babkin, who remained as the company commander, aka Gulyaybabka, creates the so-called “Charitable Unity (Society) of Sincere Aid to the Fighting Adolf” BEIPSA, and under this banner the company follows the fascist army to the east.
