About the book: 1987 / Nikolai Korneevich Chukovsky (1904-1965) was born in Odessa in the family of the famous writer Korney Chukovsky. He studied at the university and at the Institute of Art History, from which he graduated in 1930. He began his literary career as a poet, but later switched to prose, although he never stopped working on poetry and was engaged in poetic translations until the end of his life. Before the war, several of his stories and collections of stories were published. In 1941, Chukovsky was mobilized as a war correspondent and spent most of the war in besieged Leningrad, among naval pilots. Observing their heroic lives gave him enormous material to work with. He wrote a lot on this topic, but perhaps his most famous work was his novel “Baltic Sky,” published in 1954 and reprinted several times.
