About the book: 1962 / Writer N.V. Uglovsky was born in 1921 in the Veliko-Ustyug district of the Vologda region. He took part in the battles against Nazi Germany and Japan as a military paramedic. After the war, he worked as a paramedic at a vocational school in Veliky Ustyug, and later in the editorial office of local radio broadcasting and in a regional newspaper. Member of the CPSU since 1943. Nikolai Uglovsky’s first story was published in 1941. The first story, “The Offensive Continues,” was published in Vologda in 1950. A notable phenomenon in literature were N. Uglovsky’s stories “Lights in Snezhnoye” (1954) and “In Our North” (1959). In the new story “Girlfriends” Ya. V. Uglovsky again turns to the theme of modern times that worries him collective farm village.
