And the hero of Shaw's play tries to turn a simple flower girl into a sophisticated aristocrat in 6 months. “Pygmalion is a mockery of the blue-blooded fans... every play of mine was a stone that I threw at the windows of Victorian prosperity,” said Shaw. In 1977, a ballet film based on this play was staged with E. Maksimova and M. Liepa. “Pygmalion” is still being successfully shown in theaters all over the world.
